Our Team

WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS. WE ACHIEVE THEM.

Our team is made up of specialist legal experts, highly academically and professionally qualified, with invaluable experience in the construction and engineering industry.

We are not just law consultants; we are construction and engineering law consultants. We pride ourselves on having concrete on our boots.

WE DO NOT SIMPLY OFFER SERVICES; WE OFFER SPECIALISTS.

It is our differences in approach and experience which makes our team so valuable. We encourage unique viewpoints and opinions in our team, which leads to better solutions, better legal arguments and, ultimately, better advice for our clients.

Our team does not only provide these specialist services, but we work towards instilling a culture of ownership and trust in our clients at every interaction. We do not only give advice and assistance, but we work with our clients’ teams to be better prepared, with better knowledge and understanding of contracts and legal principles. This is knowledge which the customers’ internal teams can then take forward into future projects.

JULIAN DOODS

Julian initially embarked on a tertiary education, studying chemical engineering. Soon, however, he felt his career path lay elsewhere and he soon switched to legal studies. Upon completion of his law education, Julian was articled to South Africa’s first ‘construction lawyer’.

After practicing for a short while, Julian joined a leading South African chemical company where he was exposed to multi-disciplined projects and learnt how to negotiate and draft major construction contracts. During the following years, he was involved in the negotiation, drafting and administration of contracts for a multitude of major international projects.

Julian was promoted to Company Secretary and Head of Legal Services, but always hankered after the excitement and challenges of major projects and soon left to commence his consulting career. In the late 90s, Julian joined a consulting firm where he advised on project contracting strategies, negotiation and drafting of contracts, advising on claims and their resolution in various forums; including arbitration, mediation, adjudication and court action.

Julian then formed his own consultancy, later establishing an international consulting company. He holds an immense wealth of knowledge having advised clients across the globe for decades and is a respected expert in his field.
